1. A book fair is held every year in towns and villages.
2. In West Bengal at first it was held in the Maidan in Kolkata.
3. Now it has spread all over the state.
4.It is being popular from day to day.
5.In Calcutta it is held every year with Pomp and splendour for about a week.
6. Publishers and book-sellers from home and abroad set up book stalls.
7. Books are displayed there.
8. Anyone can browzse a book.
9. He may not buy it now.
10. He may buy it afterwards.
11. A buyer can choose a book freely for his purchase.
12. Everyday crowd of book-lovers come to the fair.
13. The children have a special attraction for thefair.
14. The coloured pictures, good prints, fine get-up of a book easily attract a child.
15. The fair opens and ends through a colourful ceremony .
16. The fair creates the habit of book-reading.
17. A cultural function is held every evening.

A VISIT TO A PLACE OF INTEREST

1. I had a novel experience of visiting a place of interest in our neighbouring state Orissa in September this year.
2. I with my parents and one of my friends went to Puri.
3. It is a sea-side temple town.
4. We took Jagannath Express at 8 o'clock night on September 20 and reached Puri the next morning.
5. We put up in a sea side hotel.
6. We enjoyed sea-bath very much.
7. The sea-view was enchanting .
8. We visited the Jagannath Temple at Puri.
9. From there we went by taxi to Konarak to see the world-famous Sun-Temple.
10. We were delighted to see Udaygiri and Khandagiri, the World Peace Temple and many other noted architectures .
11. We did not forget to Visit Nandan-Kanan or the Garden of Paradise some thirty kilometers from Puri.
12.There we met tigers, lions. Crocodiles, birds and reptiles to our great joy.
13. We spent five days at Puri.
14. And came back home with unforgettable experience.
15. I want to see Puri again and again.

A PICNIC I ENJOYED RECENTLY

1. Our Annual Examination was over.
2. Amal, my friend suggested going for a picnic.
3. We were ten friends.
4. We agreed to the suggestion at once.
5. Next Saturday morning we set off for Motijhil with cooking utensils, fish, meat, rice, sweets and other titbits.
6. We walked to our favourite picnic spot and selected a shady nook.
7. We had a cook with us.
8. The cook set to work.
9. Sunit assisted him.
10. The scenic beauty of the place was enchanting .
11. Some of us sang a lot of songs.
12. We all played games.
13. We sat on the grass to have our meal.
14. We had a hearty meal. The day came to a close.
15. We made for home singing in chorous (সমস্বরে গান গাইতে গাইতে).

POLLUTION

1. Pollution is one of the greatest problems today.
2. The whole environment is polluted.
3. Owing to our ignorance or wickedness, land is polluted by uncollected garbage, plastic packets.
4. Soap water is soaked in to the soil and pollutes it.
5. Use of DDT and other pesticides cause land pollution.
6. Untreated sewage is discharged into the river and pollutes its water.
7. Factory wastes are dropped into water causing pollution.
8. Oil tankers wash their tanks on high seas. River -side or sea-side power stations release hot water in the rivers or in the seas.
9. Air is polluted by factory smoke and gases emitted by vehicles.
10. Noise from horns, loud-speakers and microphones cause air or sound pollution.
11. Indiscriminate (নির্বিচার) felling of trees (গাছকাটা) is a source (উৎস) of air pollution, erosion of soil, floods and other natural calamiti es .
